Awesome!

This has got to be one of Andrea Kane's best books! Characters are well and cleary defined. Trenton and Ariana are definitely made for each other! This book keeps you reading, and the ending seems to end too fast. You just want to keep reading what continues for the hero and heroine. You don't want to miss this one!

The publisher should be fired!

I enjoyed this kindle book. However, how difficult is it to add a segway between changes of scene? Trenton and Ariana are having a conversation and with nothing more than an indentation for a paragraph, the story switches to a conversation between Baxter and Vanessa. Very poor proofreading also detracted from my enjoyment of this book.

Echos in the Mist is a winner

This is one of my favorite Andrea Kane books. The story of Trenton and Ariana is great. Both are characters that you can care about. Trenton falls in love with Ariana despite her family connection to his enemy. There is tenderness to their love which I feel is an Andrea trademark. Ariana is naive but not to naive. There is goodness in her that draws Trenton. There is also suspense which causes this book to be quite the page turner. Plus you get to know his brother who has his own story Wishes in the Wind. If you have not yet read an Andrea Kane book this is a good one to introduce you to the magic that I feel is Andrea Kane.

An interesting read

I gave this three stars to this, as there are some unexpected twists in a somewhat interesting story. I especially liked the treatment of Sigyn - which stuck quite close to the lore - but I was a bit disappointed at some other details that smacked obviously of Marvel's influence. The story is also heavily pro-Christian, though the balance is rather fragile between the 'opposing forces'. The story wandered a bit in parts that I suspect might be due to translation. Maybe some of the overall story needs might be fleshed out in the sequels.

A moderate success, in my opinion, and I'm pleased to see that this piece finally has been translated to English, nonetheless.

I'm so happy to see some of Jakub Cwiek's "Klamca" has been translated into English!
I really like this modern take on the Norse trickster god Loki.
I really hope more of the books will be translated, as I can't wait to read more about Loki, and the world in "Klamca".

In this fictional universe, the Christian God is real and so is the war in Heaven when Lucifer rebelled. The pagan gods also exist and today at least some of them are wandering the Earth minding their own business. Which, in Loki's case, is lying.

Another war is brewing among the angels, and those in Heaven realize that lying would be a valuable tool for their side. Unfortunately, they are by nature incapable of it. Which is where Loki comes in.

So we've got a proper trickster Loki who is more amoral than evil, who's fighting on the side of good but in his own way and for his own self-serving reasons. The characterization of Loki is what it should be and the story is well paced and pulls you in.

Breathless prose, but for something meaty, look elsewhere

The author is effusive in his praise for recent initiatives in the U.S. to make data accessable in usable form, and the entrepaneurs that take advantage of it. But the form of the review is lots of breadth, but little depth. In a web page form, the fact that most of this book was references to experiences of others is fine, because there are inline links to allow for readers to dive in. However, in book form, I think this would have benefited greatly by the author expanding on the points he wants to make and recognize that someone who is reading is probably not interested in following up on the links, but wants the author's insight and contribution to the material.

Good introduction to the challenges and potential of open data

Similar to another recently published O'Reilly Strata series text on Big Data, "Designing Great Data Products: Inside the Drivetrain Approach, a Four-step Process for Building Data Products", in the sense that it is very succinct, in this case providing focus on data for a specific purpose, rather than solely focusing on Big Data like the other series entries I have read recently, "Big Data Now: Current Perspectives from O'Reilly Radar" and "Planning for Big Data: A CIO's Handbook to the Changing Data Landscape", this quick read is expected to be a welcome addition to the reading list of anyone beginning their investigation of government data being made available to the public (otherwise known as "open data").

After discussing the case for open data and the potential that it has for public good, Howard walks the reader through several examples of how open data is currently being used, and then addresses trends demanding special attention in this space. As a consultant who has worked for both public and private sector clients, including pro bono work for another consulting firm which provides services around open data, I especially appreciate the outline of four areas that support the investment in this space that the author shares from John Tolva, the chief technology officer for Chicago, which includes trust, accountability of the work force, business building, and urban analytics, as well as the sharing of four trends that include civic network effects, hybridized data models, personal data ownership, and smart disclosure.

And the closing thought of the author speakes volumes: "The exabyte age will bring with it the twin challenges of information overload and overconsumption, both of which will require organizations of all sizes to use the emerging toolboxes for filtering, analysis and action. To create public good from public goods - the public sector data that governments collect, the private sector data that is being collected and the social data that we generate ourselves - we will need to collectively forge new compacts that honor existing laws and visionary agreements that enable the new data science to put the data to work."

A useful resource

Data is good. More data is better?

This slim (39 pages) booklet is a great little resource if, for nothing else, it is a mine of just about everything you could want about using data to improve public administration.

If you have half an interest in making the world a better place then grab this booklet and follow the leads it provides that interest you.

At 39 pages you can't expect an in depth analysis of pro's and con's of information as the panacea for the woes of 21st century government. Personally I think that the authors are a little too optimistic about the redeeming powers of open information, but given it is 39 pages and free (on Kindle) there isn't too much to complain about this handy resource.

I PASSED THANKS 2 THIS BOOK!

I bought this book and did practice questions for two weeks before the exam ranging anywhere from 50 - 250 questions a day. When I took the NCLEX, the questions seemed easy in comparison to this book. I liked that for the fact I didn't stress during the test. I felt like I knew the material and finished the test with 75 questions. I just found out last week I passed and I'm super excited! AMAZING BOOK! You won't regret it!

TOOK MY NCLEX 8/4/15 AND I PASSED WITH 75 QUESTIONS ON THE FIRST TRY WITH THIS BOOK!

I told myself that if I passed my NCLEX that I would write a review on the resources that helped me to pass, since reviews on here helped me to pick out my study resources. This book was pretty much the main resource I used in order to pass the NCLEX alongside doing the Kaplan Qtrainers. I also bought the Saunders review book for the NCLEX-RN. This book in particular is all questions, which are all higher level, meaning that they are the questions you need to get right in order to pass the NCLEX. I liked this book in particular because the questions are broken down by body system (cardiac, respiratory, endocrine, etc...) and then each body system is broken down into separate disorders (for example the respiratory section was broken down in COPD, pneumonia, TB, etc...). This made studying easier because if I did not know about a particular disorder, I could look up the information in my Saunders review book before I answered questions on that disorder. The book also has a OB, peds, and psych sections, which I found helpful. The rationales in this book are also very good. They explain why the correct answer is correct and why the others answers are incorrect, but they also give additional information you may need to know about the topic in the question. This makes the rationals a great study tool as well. As far as the difficulty of the questions, I would say that they are difficult at first, but they help you to critically think. When I took my NCLEX I found the questions to be similar to the questions in this book and I thought that NCLEX questions were sometimes easier. Overall this book is great, you will not regret buying it!

The author suggests that motive is more complex than the ‘image restoration’ theory that is prevalent in rhetorical theory. More specifically, this study emphasizes repair of relationships, self-reflection leading to a ‘new’ improved identity and affirmation of moral principle as reasons for apology.

Poorly written and provides bad advice

I was forced to buy this book for my MBA studies, and worse than paying the ridiculous price asked for it, I had to endure reading it too. This book is very poorly written, sentences are strangely structured, with multiple repetitions and redundancies making for a very annoying reading. Besides that, the authors seem to hold 'managers' in very low esteem as far as their trustworthiness and their intellectual abilities which is further irritating. To top it all off, they also provide some strange management advice, such as "Authorisation for both the purchase and the issue of stocks [British for inventory] should be confined to a few senior staff. This should avoid problems of duplication and lack of co-ordination" what? the news of a purchasing department, processes and procedures, automated systems, information technology or ERP has not reached you just yet?

So, fellow readers, if you can avoid buying this book, you should.

Well, I truely agree with the former comment.
I was foreced to use it too. I have nerver seen such a bad book: Unlocially, redudancy, worde teachign style, confusing..etc.
It reflects the professionality of teachers recommending it.
There exist a few better books I bought but they have never been recommended by the program conducters..strange.

IF you are required to purchase this book for a class, like I was, please consider purchasing another book to compliment it. I recommend this one to compliment the purchase of this text book. This book will tell you in less than 300 pages what the text book cannot seem to do in over 800. Financial Statements: A Step-by-Step Guide to Understanding and Creating Financial Reports

About the Author
Suzanne Reece is a solicitor (non- practising) who worked for over 17 years in a number of legal firms. She later moved into education teaching BPTC students at City, University of London for nearly 10 years. Critical to her role were skills teaching, course design and assessments. Suzanne also supervised LLM dissertation students, delivered academic support and provided study skills training. Early in her education career it became apparent that good students were not achieving the grades they deserved. Suzanne discovered that for some students their lack of study skills prevented their academic knowledge being communicated to their tutors in the right form. With the right study skills Suzanne believes that students can remove these obstacles and achieve their full potential. Her passion is helping students “kick obstacles out of the way” so they can achieve outstanding grades. Suzanne has taught thousands of students and helped them obtain outstanding grades. In 2015 she put her extensive legal and professional experience into establishing a new company providing educational skills training. Great new series

I enjoyed the characters in this new series. Seems the writing was tighter than her other series. Good story, good character development, unexpected twist. Looking forward to reading more about these people. Love the setting of this series. I'm reading in 30 degree weather but feeling warm as I read about the sun and beach!

Even though I received this book for free for an honest review, I could not finish it. Too dark. Too much violence. Sorry, just not my kind of mystery. Actually, in five chapters I didn't get to a mystery.

About the Author
Denise Boyd received her Ed.D. in educational psychology from the University of Houston and has been a psychology instructor in the Houston Community College System since 1988. From 1995 until 1998, she chaired the psychology, sociology, and anthropology department at Houston Community College–Central. She has coauthored four other Allyn and Bacon texts: with Helen Bee, The Developing Child (Twelfth Edition), and The Growing Child (First Edition); and with Genevieve Stevens, Current Readings in Lifespan Development. A licensed psychologist, she has presented a number of papers at professional meetings, reporting research in child, adolescent, and adult development. She has also presented workshops for teachers whose students range from preschool to college.

Although it's about average in terms of your typical boring textbook, what my biggest gripe with it are the Chapter tests at the end of each chapter; many of the test questions are wrong.
For an easy example pg. 319 Question # 12 asks, " Which of the following terms wold be applied to someone who is high in both masculinity and femininity?" the answer at the back of the book, "animistic". Not only is it not even mentioned in this chapter, it is wrong; animistic is the belief that non-humans, such as animals, have a spirit. This is not the only mistake, I've found several in each Chapter test and I'm surprised that after 6 editions, mistakes are still there. Same questions are in the 7th edition.
This may be no big deal if Chapter tests are something that you usually skip, but as a student, I wonder if it's the same people responsible for writing my college exams???

Not anything special. Only provides the basics

For the price, I think that this textbook lacked a lot of depth. It only hardly touches upon the main aspects of different theories regarding lifespan development. It will lay out the basics of the theories, but will not provide any in depth analyses of them. Also, if you are taking a class that requires you to know the basics of developmental theory like mine did, you would probably be better off just using google to find the theories you are looking for. All of this information is easily accessible online and this text does not offer anything special. It does not assist you in your learning, it only states what you should know. I ended up selling mine during the middle of my lifespan development course because my professor's notes were enough to guide me through the class with a little bit of help from the internet to assist my learning.
