Unholy Joy!
By Amazon Customer
I'm gonna try to do this without spoilers.I know a lot of people have been saying that the last 5 books or so have been so different and that D’s character has changed but remember, between each book it seems like years (decades/centuries?) are passing. No person is the same as they were even 5 years ago! I like D’s personality development. In the earlier books he was very distant and cool and didn’t care what people opinions people had of him. As he matures, there’s a sardonic humor that peaks out now and then, but even as he grows a little more sympathetic with the different people he meets, there seems to be a cold noble arising within that has little patience with humans who create conflict or insult him. I also love the fact that he is have more interactions with HIM (lets call him D Senior). It makes me think an ultimate battle is drawing closer and I can't wait! All in all, I think long time fans of this series will enjoy this one. Very well written, well paced, filled with poetic descriptions reminiscent of Dark Nocturne.

Hideyuki Kikuchi delivers
By Rebecca
While I was somewhat disappointed in Vampire Hunter D Volume 19, it seemed to be just thrown together and there may have been something lost in the translation, Scenes From an Unholy War is back to being the usual fascinating story you cannot put down that is expected from Hideyuki Kikuchi. Good read!!
