Because all the best of these tricks are available in this one monumental book, containing nearly every practical card trick produced, invented, and improved by magicians over a span of forty years and more.
A truly staggering collection, this book explains how to perform over 600 professional card tricks: impromptu card tricks, spelling tricks, "you do as I do" tricks, diachylon (a paste for gluing cards together) tricks, calculation tricks; tricks using key cards, slick cards, double-backed cards, reversed cards, short cards; tricks based on a one-way pack, prearranged pack, Svengali pack, Mene-Tekel pack, stripper pack; special packs; miscellaneous tricks including Everywhere and Nowhere, The Case of the Four Kings, Card in the Orange, The Buddha Whispers, and Inseparable Aces; and a final chapter on tricks using the famous Nikola Card System. In addition, a chapter on technique explains the most important sleights ― the overhand shuffle, riffle shuffle, false cut, palm, simple pass, double lift, glide, and force.
Based on a volume compiled by Dr. Wilhelm Von Deusen and Glenn G. Gravatt, this collection was thoroughly revised by Jean Hugard and completely rewritten. Very Complete Book of Card Tricks
By Papa Ski
This book is great in its completeness and organization. It walks you through most of the card tricks. This book is not geared toward beginners or younger audiences. If you are a visual learner this book is not for you. There are very few pictures and diagrams so you will have to use your imagination at times to visualize what the trick is supposed to look like based on the descriptions.

Invaluable book for the closeup magician!!
By A Customer
This book is great! It has so many tricks that can be worked with various decks. The only bad thing, is that sometimes it is difficult to comprehend. I bought this book for $40 in a magic shop, and that is the price in most magic retailers (of course mine is hardcover, which increses the price) but I thought it was well worth it. Now that I see the Amazon price, I think I got ripped off, but it's still worth it. (I guess I'll check Amazon's price from now on, and maybe shop here.) Overall, it is an excellent book, and I used some great tricks from here for magic auditions. That's how great it is!
